Last week I went to see my Doctor. My usual doctor wasn't available so I saw a part timer!
The nightmares had begun again and I was having trouble sleeping. I'd tried all the usual stuff eg: Meditation, relaxation and in desperation....counting sheep, but nothing worked and I was really suffering.
He looked at me all kind of uninterested and asked why?
Sick of beating about the bush, I told him of my past which included sexual, mental and physical abuse. Instantly he looked all flustered and embarassed. He stammered that he wasn't my regular doctor and said I should make an appointment with my own G.P.
I just got up and left, exasperated, annoyed and well and truly disappointed!
Good God, if a G.P is shocked by what you say to them I wonder if they should be in practice at all.
I saw my regular G.P today and what a difference. He was marvellous as usual but Oh, how others are lacking, which just tells me again, that something must happen, something must educate them and that they need a bedside manner of curtesy and a sympathetic ear!
We don't find it easy to speak, but we have to, they should at least listen without averting their gaze and pretending nothing is wrong.
